About Me
Me!
Hi, I’m Ed – 17 years old from Hull, United Kingdom. I’m a tech fan, but my main interest is computers. I currently use Linux as my main operating system. I’m using Xubuntu 8.04 at the moment. I mainly enjoy browsing the net and working on my websites. I’m also a huge gamer. I do like consoles, but I much prefer PC gaming, usually playing Counter Strike, Call of Duty and Guild Wars.
Apart from the tech stuff, I’m a big Manchester Untied fan (I have been to the games and I’m not a glory supporter, before you ask!) and also enjoy Rugby Union.
My Site

EdHewitt.co.uk is my main home on the web. Here I post reviews mainly on software, as well as some tech news (maybe some gaming news as well), helpful How-To’s and my daily life. Most of my computer-related posts are about Linux, but I also post about Windows and Mac as well.
Apart from the blog, I also host and manage the Gfire website. I’m part of dev team for Gfire. Gfire is a plugin for the Pidgin IM client, which allows you to chat to your friends on the Xfire network. I mainly manage the website, promote Gfire, format the gameslist or Gfire and create the deb installer.
I’m also the webmaster of Generis Studios, a small flash game & animation developer. Small team of us working on flash, but I mainly deal with the running of the site.
My Setup
My Main PC is an old RM PC, used to run Windows 98, but now Linux. I’m runnung Xubuntu on:
- Intel Celeron 700Mhz
- 256mb RAM
- ATi Radeon 7000 64mb
- 7GB Hard drive & 80GB external
- 15inch LCD screen (I prefer small screens)
